JOB SUMMARY: Teach mathematics classes that emphasize basic skills in arithmetic, elementary algebra, and other non-transferable courses, as well as mathematics courses in the technical, business, liberal arts and engineering fields.
|Duties and Responsibilities||Teach mathematics with the patience, repetition, effective communication, and variety of approaches that are essential for success in this position.
Teach a range of classes in mathematics based on the current offerings and needs of the Mathematics Department.
Engage in the development, evaluation, and revision of the curriculum, with particular emphasis on basic skills mathematics and college readiness.
Provide students and colleagues with thorough explanations of mathematical concepts.
Serve on committees formed to develop mathematics curriculum, augment department policy, and/or improve the College.
Commit to the Mission of the College, its diverse student population and to an inclusive work and educational environment.
Use innovative instructional strategies that support student success and recognize diverse learning styles and abilities.
Manage the classroom in ways that are conducive to student success and safety.
Communicate effectively and clearly with students and colleagues.
Exhibit organizational and interpersonal skills within a collaborative environment.
Teach at multiple campus locations depending on the needs of the Mathematics Department.
|Minimum Qualifications||A Ph. D or a Master’s Degree in Mathematics, or a Master’s Degree in Mathematics Education (with 21 or more graduate credits in mathematics), or a Master’s Degree in Statistics with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics (or Mathematics Education).
A minimum of two years of teaching experience in Mathematics, preferably at the Community College level.
Preference is given to applicants with experience in and knowledge of the current trends in developmental and introductory level college mathematics.
